No 10. Reduced Inequalities

To create an equal society is favorable to everyone. Ski Tour 2020 wish to contribute to that and promote social and economic equality within the sport and within the event’s framework.

We hope that any measures taken will show that promoting equality will help to develop the sport of cross-country skiing and build stronger organizations for the future.

How Ski Tour 2020 wish to contribute to reduced inequalities

>> All the athletes are required to use the same means of transportation (bus and train) and traveling together. This reduces the economic inequalities and makes it easier for teams who do not have the same economical conditions as the financially strongest teams. To travel together is also a way of promoting social inclusion.

>> Ski Tour 2020 offer all teams and athletes to stay in the same hotels. This means the cost is the same for all teams and that there are no benefits for the Swedish and Norwegian teams.

>> The number of service stations are reduced in the long-distance races. This means the conditions are the same for athletes with small support teams and the financially stronger teams.

The UN Global Goals number 10

Too much of the world’s wealth is held by a very small group of people. This often leads to financial and social discrimination. In order for nations to flourish, equality and prosperity must be available to everyone - regardless of gender, race, religious beliefs or economic status. When every individual is self sufficient, the entire world prospers.
