Audi`s passion to winter sports

As the Presenting Sponsor to FIS, we are happy to welcome Audi as partner of Ski Tour 2020. A brand that supports the essence of winter sports, from the downhill run to the cross-country skiing trail.

Audi’s commitment to winter sports is recognizable not only in the long-term partnership with the International Ski Federation, but also by sponsorships with multiple national ski teams and cooperation’s with selected winter sport events. In Germany for example, Audi AG has been one of the main sponsors of the German Ski Association including all national teams for more than 30 years.

As stated above, the German automobile manufacturer has been a part of the world of winter sports for many years. In 2019, Audi celebrated its 17th year as general sponsor of the Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup. The brand was involved in the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships as presenting sponsor seven times in total and was the principal sponsor of the 2019 competitions in Åre. A Championship where the Audi e-tron, Audi´s first Battery Electric Vehicle, featured a 20-fleet shuttle service.

In addition to the alpine commitments, Audi has been lending its name to the Audi FIS Ski Cross World Cup since 2011. But Audi is not all about the downhill rides, as the banner of with the four rings also is found among all Nordic disciplines. a long-time partner of the FIS Cross-Country Skiing, Nordic Combined and Ski Jumping World Cups, Audi has been firmly established in the Nordic FIS disciplines over the past years as it provides an ideal stage for presenting the sportiness, technology and dynamic of Audi to a worldwide audience.

Not only within the Alpine World Cups, but also in the Coop FIS Cross-Country World Cup, the Audi e-tron has been in the focus of all sponsor activities underlining the fact that the brand´s technology is becoming a cornerstone of the future of electric mobility. A technology that goes hand in hand with the Ski Tour 2020s action against climate change.

In return, international events cause a negative impact on the climate and on the environment if organizers keep doing things the way they always have. During Ski Tour 2020, we wish to re-invent the organizing of winter sports event by finding new ways and new solutions, so that the tour`s climate impact can be reduced”, says Guri Knotten Hetland, CEO of Ski Tour 2020.
